Freej Aspire Ramadan Celebrations

Doha, July 05 (QNA) - "Freej Aspire", which has been organized for the first time by Aspire Zone Foundation, received significant praise from the public, officials and the media for what the programme has achieved both in terms of providing great entertainment and cultural experiences. "Freej Aspire" will conclude its activities tonight, July 6, 2015. The Freej was launched and added to Aspire Zone Foundations Ramadan programme for the first time this year. This addition highlights the Foundations efforts to provide all kinds of entertainment activities, spread joy amongst the community and instill pride in Qatari history and culture. The Freej is also a great destination for families to spend the Ramadan evenings in a unique atmosphere, offering something for everyone and the opportunity to experience a joyous and exciting atmosphere. Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of Culture, Arts & Heritage praised the idea of the Freej during its launch on June 25, 2015. In particular he pointed to its role in connecting younger generations with the countrys heritage, history and values and paid tribute to Aspire Zone Foundations efforts in celebrating cultural heritage by organising this Freej. For his part, Hasan Alsai, a well-known figure in Qatars media who has been a regular visitor to the Freej and presenter of one of its main live shows, praised the "Freej Aspire" and its role in maintaining the country's national identity and heritage. He also acknowledged its role in bringing the past to life for younger generations, adding that this initiative by Aspire Zone Foundation plays a key role in reviving Qatari heritage and traditions. Since its launch, visitors to "Freej Aspire" have enjoyed a wide range of traditional activities, entertainment and an enjoyable atmosphere. Such activities included local Al Arda dances, Al Rababah shows, cultural lectures, and shows by comedians. "Freej Aspire" also hosted a Garangao night celebration during which more 5,000 visitors attended. The shows that proved most popular included Um Khalaf and Grandma Memo, which also prompted a significant level of discussion on social media. Nasser Abdullah Al-Hajri, Marketing Director of Aspire Zone Foundation, said "we are grateful for the appreciation that people have expressed for "Freej Aspire" in this its first year. The great turnout, particularly for the Garangao night, reflects the success that the Freej has achieved in connecting younger generations with their heritage and culture. Our aim is to boost the connections and ties within our community by combining entertainment and fun with Qatari traditions and culture. We will make every effort to remain a destination for all and offer something for everyone including physical activities, sports and entertainment". Khalid Shadeed, a visitor to Fereej Aspire, thanked Aspire Zone Foundation for hosting such an event, saying, "Fereej Aspire is a great idea and it is bound to appeal to both adults and children. It represents a great opportunity to celebrate our countrys history and heritage as well as educate younger generations about the past. It is the ideal destination during Ramadan". Furthermore, "Freej Aspire" has been designed to cater for people with special needs in order to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the experiences on offer during Holy Month. During the Garangao night celebration, the Freej welcomed the parents and children of the Gulf Association of People with Special Needs to celebrate this amazing night. In addition to this,"Freej Aspire" also invited a group of elderly people to celebrate the Garangao night at the Freej with the rest of the community. One of the unique programmes presented in "Freej Aspire" that truly captures a traditional atmosphere is the "Sloom Ahel Qatar" programme, organised in partnership with Qatar Charity and designed to revive Qatari traditions and customs. The Sloom programme includes lectures, forums, traditional competitions as well as giving visitors the chance to learn about the history of photography, the profession of sailing, falcon training, and a number of other traditional activities. "Freej Aspire" is situated in a new space that features the latest cooling technology designed to keep the temperature at 25 degrees. The layout of the Freej is organised in the shape of adjoining houses based on the traditional "Liwan" design and includes a number of stores, handicraft workshops as well as storytelling booths, food stations and a number of other elements designed to replicate the environment of an authentic "Freej."
