KSrelief Center Inaugurates Project to Build 500 Housing Units for Rohingya Minority in Bangladesh

Dhaka, March 25, 2022, SPA -- The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) launched here Wednesday a project to build 500 housing units for the Rohingya minority in Bangladesh. The project was inaugurated by the Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh, Issa bin Yousef Al-Duhailan, in the presence of the Minister of Interior of Bangladesh, Asaduzzaman Khan and a number of senior officials. Al-Duhailan explained that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the leading countries in the field of humanitarian work and providing aid to those affected in various countries of the world, noting that the Kingdom has provided humanitarian aid to many countries through several agencies, most notably the KSrelief and the Saudi Fund for Development. He stated that the KSrelief implemented during 2021 a project to secure and distribute food baskets for the Rohingya minority and the host community in Cox's Bazar region, in addition to sending nearly 1.5 million doses of vaccine for the COVID-19 to Bangladesh, stressing that this continuous aid embodies the close relations between the two countries. The Bangladeshi Minister of Interior expressed his thanks to the Kingdom, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for the great efforts made to help the Rohingya minority and the Bengali people, praising the cooperation between the leaderships of the two countries in order to provide basic aid to the needy in his country. The project stems from the Kingdom’s keenness on the conditions of the Rohingya refugees and their host communities in light of the difficult living conditions they are going through. -- SPA
