KSrelief Supports 2nd Campaign for Mosquito Nets Distribution in 7 Yemeni Governorates

Aden, Apr 17, 2022, SPA -- Funded by King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action (KSrelief), the second campaign to distribute mosquito nets impregnated with pesticides was launched in the second phase in the camps for the displaced, targeting seven Yemeni governorates, benefiting 118,000 people. KSrelief supported the campaign in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) and in coordination with the National Malaria Control Program. During the campaign, 85,000 mosquito nets will be distributed to camps for the displaced in the governorates of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Al Dhale'e, Taiz, Hadramawt and Shabwa, with the aim of combating epidemics and mosquito-borne diseases. The Yemeni Minister of Health and Population Dr. Qassem Buhaibah, commended KSrelief support for the campaign, stressing that this support is of great importance in combating malaria, dengue fever or other febrile diseases and mosquito-borne diseases. He also hailed the efforts of the Center in support of various health sector programs being carried out by the Yemeni Ministry of Health. For his part, the Director of National Malaria Control Programs, Dr. Yasser Bahshem, explained that the first phase of the campaign distributed 330,000 mosquito nets in the governorates of Hodeidah and Marib, adding that the second phase will include seven governorates, with generous support being provided by KSrelief through WHO. This project comes within the framework of the emergency response implemented by the Center to limit the outbreak and spread of the malaria epidemic in Yemen, by distributing more than 400,000 mosquito nets to the displaced in a number of governorates all over Yemen. --SPA
