Kyrgyz delegation takes part in 62th General Conference of IAEA in Vienna

Bishkek, Sept. 19, 2018. /Kabar/. The Kyrgyz delegation led by Vice Prime Minister Jenish Razakov are taking part in the 62th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. During the general debate Razakov delivered a formal speech and emphasized the active work carried out by the Government of Kyrgyzstan within the technical cooperation with the IAEA and the activities conducted within the Strategic Master Plan for Environmental Remediation of Uranium Legacy Sites in Central Asia. Razakov noted that radiation safety is an important part of the national science and technology policy, which contributes to the development of national programmes and serves as catalyst for the technological and economic development of the country. A Country Framework Programme of Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the IAEA was signed on the sidelines of the 62th General Conference. On behalf of Kyrgyzstan, the document was signed by Director of the State Agency on Environment Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) Abdykalyk Rustamov, while on behalf of the IAEA the document was signed by Deputy Director General of the Department of Technical Cooperation Mr. Dazhu Yang. The main concept of this programme defines the structure of planning the technical cooperation of the IAEA in Kyrgyzstan for the period from 2018 to 2023, which is the result of the comprehensive process of consultations with the participation of respective ministries and entities for defining priority areas of the cooperation with the IAEA, the press service of the SAEPF reported.
