Kyrgyzstan bans smoking in public places and tobacco advertising

Bishkek, Sept. 28, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov signed a law on the fight against smoking, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Director of the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy, Pr. Akpay Sarybaev told during a press conference at Kabar Agency. “I would like to congratulate all of you on the fact that 3 days ago, President Sadyr Zhaparov signed the law on the fight against smoking. This is a big victory in the fight against cardiovascular disease and cancer. This law provides for many measures,” he said. The deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament at a meeting on July 29 approved amendments to the law "On protecting the health of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic from the consequences of consumption of tobacco, nicotine and exposure to ambient tobacco smoke and aerosols." The bill proposes to ban smoking, including e-cigarettes, hookahs and mixtures in public places. Also hookahs will be banned in cafes and restaurants.
