Kyrgyzstan discusses with XUAR leadership activities of checkpoints on borders

First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Arzybek Kozhoshev held talks with Deputy Chairman of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China Liu Sushe via videoconferencing. According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, during the conversation, the sides discussed topical issues on the agenda, in particular, the organization of the mechanism for managing the Torugart and Irkeshtam checkpoints to improve their efficiency. Arzybek Kozhoshev stressed that the full functioning of checkpoints and the optimization of the passage of goods in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements is in the interests of the two states and will further expand mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between the countries. “The implementation of coordinated and joint actions at checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Chinese state border will further simplify the process of moving vehicles, both towards the Kyrgyz Republic and towards the People's Republic of China. We are counting on the manifestation of mutual political will to find an optimal solution to increase the number of freight traffic through the Torugart and Irkeshtam checkpoints for the benefit of our peoples,” he said. In turn, the deputy chairman of the People's Government of Xinjiang Liu Suche expressed the readiness of the Chinese side to consider topical issues aimed at improving the trade balance between the two countries, as well as developing further cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest.
