Kyrgyzstan puts forward its candidacy to UNHRC and non-permanent members of UNSC: president

Bishkek, Sept. 22, 2021 . / Kabar / . "Our country is interested and always ready to contribute to international efforts to solve common problems of humanity. On the basis of these considerations, Kyrgyzstan has put forward its candidacy to the United Nations Human Rights Council for 2023-2025 and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028. I urge all UN member states to support us in this election," Kyrgyz leader Sadyr Zhaparov said in his video message at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on Sept. 21. He stressed that next year, Kyrgyzstan's neighbors in the region will also celebrate their 30th anniversary of joining the UN. "I would like to emphasize that in centuries-long relations with its neighbors, Kyrgyzstan has always advocated equitable dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation, resolving all differences exclusively through negotiations. Given this significant date, we propose holding in 2022 a Central Asia-UN summit to summarize mutual cooperation and outline joint plans for the future for the development and security of Central Asia. We propose to organize the summit on the dates of the regular Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State. I ask the esteemed President of the General Assembly and the UN Secretary General to consider their participation in next year's work schedule," the Kyrgyz leaders said.
