Kyrgyzstan ready to assist Turkey in extinguish forest fires

Bishkek, Oct. 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan has expressed its readiness to help Turkey extinguish forest fires, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said Friday. A meeting was held between Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Boobek Azhikeyev with Head of Forestry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey Bekir Karacabey. The Kyrgyz delegation was briefed on the strategic objectives for preserving forests from fires until 2023 and the ongoing work on extinguishing fires by aircrafts (planes, helicopters) and by land. Karacabey voiced the initiative to hold in the near future a symposium in Turkey, inviting specialists from different countries, where the mechanism of creating an international response group for extinguishing forest fires will be discussed. The Kyrgyz minister of emergency situations expressed the readiness to provide one group of professional firefighters of Kyrgyzstan to join the international response group. The sides also debated issues of mutual assistance in dealing with the consequences of emergencies, including fires. At the end of the meeting, the Turkish side invited Minister Karacabey to make welcoming speech to the participants of the seminar on climate change, held by the Forestry of Turkey.
