Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan resume bus communication

Tashkent, Dec. 10, 2020 / Kabar /. In the near future, bus passenger routes between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, which were previously suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be resumed. This decision was made following the meeting of Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan with Acting Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan on Dec. 8 in Fergana, the press service of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan said. "The sides expressed their readiness to implement joint measures to accelerate the resumption of international passenger traffic between the two countries on the agreed bus routes," the report said. During the meeting, the need to ensure the effective use of the Andijan-Osh-Irkeshtam-Kashgar automobile route in the system of multimodal cargo transportation from China to Europe through the Central Asian states was also emphasized. Passenger traffic between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was suspended in March of this year, due to the introduction of a quarantine regime and the closure of borders in connection with the spread of COVID-19. The previous regime was restored on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border on Sept. 1. Air traffic between the capitals of the two countries was resumed on Sept. 14. Earlier it was reported that Kyrgyzstan has allowed entry to citizens of all countries of the world from Dec. 4, 2020.
