Latin America has ‘major spiritual potentials,’ says Patriarch Kirill

ASUNCION, February 15. /TASS/. Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia spoke on Monday of a need to develop ties between Russia and countries of Latin America that have "major potentials". "The whole continent has big potentials, spiritual potentials," the patriarch said after a church service at the Holy Virgin Protection Orthodox Church in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay. "That is why I believe it is very important to develop Russia’s relations with Latin American states," he said, explaining that it was necessary "to not only trade and exchange information, but to exchange historical experience in order not to repeat mistakes". "God bless Paraguay and its people," Patriarch Kirill wished. The patriarch is on a visit to countries of Latin America. In Cuba, Patriarch Kirill met with Pope Francis in an historic encounter that may help mend relationships between the two churches after Christianity split 1,000 years ago.
