Minister of Finance and ADB Director General for Central Asia discuss bilateral cooperation

Bishkek, Aug. 17. 2018 / Kabar /. Minister of Finance of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev met with Director General of the Asian Development Bank for Central and West Asia Department Verner Lipah. The press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that in his speech Kasymaliev congratulated Lipah on his appointment to a new post and thanked the ADB team for the assistance and support for ongoing social and economic reforms. During the meeting, the issues of bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and ADB were discussed, in particular, the issues related to the implementation of the budget support program in the Kyrgyz Republic, priority areas of partnership within the framework of the new Strategy for a five-year period, and development of small and medium-sized businesses. Kasymaliev also told that from July 3 to July 12, 2018, the ADB Mission visited Kyrgyzstan to determine the main reforms for the implementation of the program of economic diversification in 2018-2019, and expressed hope for ADB's support of the budget support program in the Kyrgyz Republic this year . "The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is actively working to improve the conditions for the introduction of public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms. For this purpose, the regulatory and legal framework for PPPs has been improved. In this regard, I would like to propose to ADB to consider the possibility of implementing large infrastructure projects through the use of public-private partnership mechanisms," the Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic noted.
