Mongolian addresses WDSD Conference

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Byambadorj Dolgoon, a Mongolian 20 year-old who has Down Syndrome delivered a speech at the annual Conference for World Down Syndrome Day held on March 20 at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA. This was the first speech of a Mongolian at this conference. His mother Ch.Erdenechuluun said that her son learned to read and write at age of four, and that he always strives to learn more. Dolgoon is learning English for personal use, and the fact was the motivation to apply for the Fourth WDSD Conference, she said in an interview. According to her, Dolgoon introduced him saying that he comes from Mongolia, is twenty years old and likes to dance, sing and study. “I was diagnosed with Down syndrome. However, this condition had become not a disability but a gift that attracted so much love toward me that I can share it with each and every one on the face of this planet. I am Mongolian, which means that I am smart, outgoing and friendly. I am here to send this message to the world”, he said.
