Moscow names streets after Cuba’s Castro, ambassador Karlov

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. A square named after late Cuban leader Fidel Castro and a street named after Ambassador Andrei Karlov shot dead in Ankara appeared in Moscow on Wednesday. "The streets signs were installed today, on March 1, on Fidel Castro Square and Andrei Karlov Street," the press service of the Moscow City Hall said. A side-street in western Moscow located close to Kutuzovsky Avenue was named after Ambassador Andrei Karlov assassinated in Turkey on December 19. A square in the north of the Russian capital was named after Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban revolution who passed away on November 26, 2016, at the age of 90. In February 2017, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin signed a directive, according to which the side-street and the square were named after Karlov and Castro. Read more
