M'sia To Share Experience On Food, Nutrition Security At Eat Forum In Sweden

PUTRAJAYA, June 2 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will share its experiences in dealing with food and nutrition security, as well as improving nutrition through agriculture at the second annual EAT Stockholm Food Forum in Sweden. Health Minister Dr S. Subramaniam, who has been invited as one of the keynote speakers, will also share his views on the topic, 'Food as A Catalyst for Economic Development at the two-day forum in Stockholm, which began Monday. According to the ministry's statement Tuesday, he is expected to touch on few topics such as underlying theme on interaction between food, agriculutre and health towards the fostering and development of foods, especially healthy foods, and the effects of nutrition on productivity. It said Dr Subramaniam would also be one of the panelists in the 'Food as A Catalyst for Economic Development' discussion, together with representatives from the World Health Organisation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. More than 500 participants from throughout the world are expected to attend this year's EAT 2015, representing three main interest groups namely food, health and the environment, added the statement. Participants will deliberate on the food road-map to 2050, including specific goals and guidelines. -- BERNAMA
