Oklahoma State University Keen To Send Students To Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA, March 19 (Bernama) -- The Oklahoma State University (OSU) has expressed interest to send its students to Malaysia for short exposure and attachment in various institutions during the summer break. Its president, Burns Hargis said OSU was keen to send students to Malaysia as the university's relationship with Malaysia was very good with a strong Malaysian student presence in the univeristy. "Malaysia has one of the largest student population in the OSU in the 80s and 90s. Therefore, we would like to send more of our students to Malaysia," he told reporters after calling on the Chief Secretary to the Government, Dr Ali Hamsa (third, left) , who is also OSU alumni. Hargis also welcomed more Malaysian students to further their studies in the OSU. Ali said during his discussion with the OSU delegation, Hargis brought up the issue pertaining to visa application for its students to come to Malaysia during summer. "Malaysia welcomes OSU international students and I will look into the students' visa application matter. The OSU has expertise in several areas to work with some universities and government agencies in Malaysia," he added. Ali obtained his Masters in Economics from the OSU in 1986 followed by a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Economics in 1997. (photoBernama) -- BERNAMA
