Opportunity and technology challenge as media forum links Russia and China

ST. PETERSBURG, June 25. /TASS/. Senior media executives and journalists from Russia and China assembled in St. Petersburg's Yeltsin library on Thursday to inaugurate their first joint industry forum. They gathered to debate the spread of news and information in today's integrated communications era, agreeing to exchange experience in developing traditional and new mass media using new technology to transmit and distribute material. Information agencies and media corporations from both countries signed a series of accords for 56 joint TV, publishing and educational projects to build sector cooperation during 2016 and 2017. "It’s vital to ally state and regional media alongside private agencies in this partnership," Deputy Minister of Communications Aleksey Volin said. Forum meetings will be held at Russian and Chinese locations on a revolving basis. Read more
