Over 600 Children Enjoy Qatar Airways Garangao

Doha, July 01 (QNA) - Over 600 children and families took part in the traditional mid-Ramadan Garangao festival hosted by Qatar Airways here at Regnecy Halls. The national carrier organised children's activities, games and traditional foods associated with this time-honoured Qatari festival. To mark the halfway point of the holy month, children knocked on doors of each house in 'mock' neighbourhood created for this event. On Garangao night, children visit homes in their neighbourhood singing traditional songs. Parents and older citizens present them gifts and bags of sweets. Qatar Airways Human Resources Employee Services Senior Vice President Nabeela Fakhri said, "Garangao holds a special place in the hearts of the Qatari people. We are proud to be able to share this aspect of Qatari culture and heritage with our colleagues." The event featured traditional games and activities such as henna painting, doll making and storytelling. Guests were also able to sample traditional Qatari food and beverages courtesy of local Qatari entrepreneurs. Those present at the Garangao event also enjoyed the rhythms of Garangao songs and music and parted with memorable pictures from the Qatar Airways customised photo-booth. The airline's Qatari employees played an important role in planning and executing the event. Three of the carrier's Qatari summer interns developed the creative concept, event branding, traditional characters and stories. (QNA)
