Rubezh-2021 military exercises of CSTO kick off in Kyrgyzstan

The opening ceremony of Rubezh-2021 joint exercise of the Collective Forces of Rapid Deployment of the Central Asian region of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) was held in Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday at the Edelweiss training center, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic reported. Deputy Minister of Defense of Kyrgyzstan Colonel Almazbek Karasartov, addressing the participants in the exercise, emphasized that since the Rubezh exercises were held in the territories of our states, our armed forces managed to strengthen the military brotherhood between our countries at a high level and increase the level of joint combat readiness in repelling modern challenges and threats and counteraction to them. In turn, the chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, noted that such exercises are held in the CSTO space on a regular basis, and have repeatedly proved their effectiveness against the background of the emerging international and regional situation. The military contingents and operational groups of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat are taking part in the exercises, in total, more than 1,000 people and 150 units of military and special equipment, including multiple launch rocket systems, aviation - Su-30SM fighters, Su-25 attack aircraft and Mi-8 helicopters are involved. The participants of the exercise will work out the issues of preparation and conduct of military operations for the destruction of illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state. The main objectives of the exercise are to improve the practical skills of officials of the command and control bodies of the Troops (Collective Forces) of the CSTO in organizing hostilities and controlling subordinate troops (forces), as well as increasing the coherence of the Collective Forces of Rapid Deployment of the Central Asian region of the CSTO in performing tasks during a joint operation.
