Russia, Armenia deliver humanitarian aid to Iran

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Russia and Armenia have delivered humanitarian aid to Iran, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry informed TASS on Tuesday. "A convoy of the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center has successfully delivered humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Iran. The cargo included tents, blankets and folding beds with a total number of 4,000 pieces purchased by Russia to replenish the Center’s humanitarian stock," the press service said, adding that the operation was conducted by the Russian and Armenian Emergencies Ministries. According to media reports, floods in Iran, which occurred in the wake of torrential rains, affected about 400 inhabited communities in 15 provinces in the north of the country. More than 70 people have been killed in floods. Besides, infrastructure facilities and houses were damaged, while transport communication was disrupted. The Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center was set up with the assistance of the Russian government in 2015 to facilitate the execution of emergency humanitarian response tasks in Russia, Armenia and third countries.
