Russia, China to celebrate WWII victory in Moscow in May and in China in September - Kremlin administration chief

MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. Russia and China will jointly celebrate the victory in the Second World War two times - in Moscow in May and in China in September, Kremlin administration chief Sergei Ivanov said on Thursday at a meeting with visiting Li Zhanshu, head of the General Office of the Communist Party of China. "We should mark this holiday properly in May in Moscow and in September in Beijing," he said. Earlier on Thursday, Li Zhanshu met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said he was expecting China’s President Xi Jinping to arrive in Moscow on May 8-9. "China and Russia as two main fronts in Asia and Europe, our peoples fought against fascism shoulder to shoulder and together we made a great contribution to our common victory, Li Zhanshu said. "An agreement to organize victory celebrations in the two countries is of great importance to pay tribute to those killed, to learn lessons from the past in the interests of peace and stability." He added that Russia and China were demonstrating "resolute will" advocating "fair and rational world order." Li Zhanshu said he was "filled with optimism about strategic cooperation between Russia and China." Read more
