Russia, East Asia to hold drills on countering infectious disease outbreaks, says Lavrov

MOSCOW, February 25. /TASS/. In November 2018, East Asia summit (EAS) members agreed to hold drills to respond to outbreaks of infectious diseases, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a conference dubbed International Cooperation in a Troubled World, organized by the Valdai International Discussion Club in partnership with the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. "Our ideas to arrange a meeting between the heads of agencies responsible for these activities and hold EAS drills on responding to the threat of dangerous infectious diseases were received well at the Singapore summit in November last year," the Russian top diplomat said. The Russian-Vietnamese conference, taking place in Ho Chi Minh City on February 25-26, is hosting about 40 experts, political scientists and diplomatic personnel. Read more
