Russia invites Japan premier to attend 70th anniversary Great Patriotic War victory festivities

TOKYO, December 28. /TASS/. Russia extended an invitation to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to attend celebrations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Russia’s capital Moscow on May 9, 2015, Japanese news agency Kyodo reported on Sunday. The prime minister will take a personal decision on participation in festivities, Kyodo reported. The similar invitation was sent to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Kyodo noted. The then Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi attended the 60th anniversary Victory celebrations in 2005. Russia will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on May 9, 2015. According to the tradition, leaders of many countries are invited for anniversary events in Moscow. For instance, leaders of the United States, Japan, France, Germany and China came to attend 60th Victory anniversary celebrations. Read more
