Russian-Japanese student symposium to be held on Youth Day at EEF-2017

VLADIVOSTOK, August 15. /TASS/. The Russian-Japanese student symposium has been added to the program of the Youth Day of the third Eastern Economic Forum in Russia’s Vladivostok, Deputy Principal of the Far Eastern Federal University Yelena Kharisova told TASS, adding that 54 students from universities of the two countries will participate in it. "We decided to gather 27 Russian students from local universities and 27 Japanese students to discuss the ways of cooperation for the two countries. They will probably be able to present the results of their work to Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe on September 6 or 7," she said. The symposium will be part of the hard-driving program of the Youth Day on September 5 prior to the main events of the forum. The day will be devoted to discussions focused on mechanisms of implementing the youth potential in social and economic areas, the role of young people in the formation of the future economy, the development of youth entrepreneurship on Russia’s Far East, as well as issues related to demography and education. Following the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Japan on December 15-16, 2016 and his meetings with Japanese PM Shinzo Abe a joint statement was adopted, which said that the beginning of consultations on joint economic activities on the South Kuril Islands would be an important step towards signing a peace treaty by the two neighbors. Also, the sides assume that the statement and any agreements reached on this background on establishing joint economic activities and the implementation of those activities itself will not hurt the positions of Russia and Japan regarding the peace treaty issue. Third Eastern Economic Forum will be held on September 6-7, 2017 in Vladivostok. The TASS Agency is the general information partner of the EEF-2017 and moderator at the site for presentation for investment projects. Read more
