Russian language competition begins in DPRK

PYONGYANG, October 19. /TASS/. More than 30 school children representing all provinces of North Korea (DPRK) participate in the country’s first competition in the Russian language. The opening ceremony was on Monday at the Russian Centre at the Pyongyang Institute of Foreign Languages. The contest participants of 14-15 years will write composition and demonstrate oral skills. The jury features representatives of the Russian embassy in Pyongyang, teachers of the Institute and associate professor at the Pushkin Institute of the Russian Language Galina Shanturova, who had arrived from Russia. The initiative to organise the competition was supported by the DPR leader Kim Jong-un. The country’s ministry of education said Kim Jong-un "receives reports on all events promoting friendly relations with Russia, and this competition is not an exception." Award ceremony will be organised at the Russian embassy in Pyongyang, where the best pupils and their teachers will receive diplomas and presents. Read more
