Sadyr Zhaparov promises fair parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan

Each relevant state body will be given a strict requirement to ensure transparency and openness of the electoral process, President Sadyr Zhaparov said, answering questions from residents of Chon-Alai region in the south of Kyrgyzstan. He said that all conditions have been created so that those who will be elected by the people come to the new convocation of parliament. “The new convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh will consist of 90 deputies. 54 deputies will be elected from party lists, 36 from single-mandate constituencies. In contrast to the previous elections, when voters voted only for a party, in the upcoming elections a system is introduced when voters vote not only for the party, but also separately for a specific candidate from it. If any civil servant interferes in the electoral process, strict measures will be immediately taken against him,” Sadyr Zhaparov said. President Zhaparov visited Chon-Alai region of Osh Oblast on Sunday and laid a capsule for the construction of a new town for ethnic Kyrgyz from the Small and Big Pamirs of Afghanistan.
