Students at Russian-Chinese University may learn Eurasian integration

MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The leader of Russia's parliamentary lower house on Monday proposed introducing a basic course on Eurasian integration into the curriculum of the new Russian-Chinese University. State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said this was connected with the fact that China and Russia were locomotives of various integration projects, particularly on the Eurasian continent. The university established in China's southern city of Shenzhen on the basis of the Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Beijing University of Technology is expected to admit its first students already next year. Both Russian and foreign specialists will be invited to teach at the university. Lectures, seminars and exercise classes will be offered in three teaching languages - Russian, Chinese and English. Students will also have the opportunity to do an internship in Russia and the biggest corporations of the two countries. The university's programmes of study include Russian language and literature, information technology, mathematics, economics and finance. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, there are currently over 25,000 Chinese students studying at Russian universities and 15,000 Russians studying in China. More than 200 institutions focusing on technology, economics, pedagogy and medicine are united in five associations of universities of the two countries. There are plans to create two more associations bringing together cultural and agricultural universities. Russia and China also have several other educational projects, including between the Saint Petersburg State University, the Renmin University of China in Beijing and the Harbin Institute of Technology. China alone implements more than 1,800 joint projects with the world’s leading universities and about 100 with Russia and aims to increase their number. Read more
