Thailand To Step Up Security Measure At Goverment House

By Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa BANGKOK, March 2 (Bernama) -- Thailand will step up security at the Government House, which houses the office of the Prime Minister among others, in line with its role as the nerve centre for government's administration. Government's spokesman Col Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the step up measure at the vital building was not a reaction to any terror threat, but merely a normal move to increase security. "Because the most important command centre of the country is here (at the Government House), so the security must not be lax," he told the reporters after the Cabinet meeting at the Government House on Tuesday. He said the move to tighten security at the Government House came following Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan's trip abroad, where he noticed the implementation of strict measures at vital government's building. Security measure at the Government House was not so strict before as it did not want to cause inconveniences to the people who came to work at the building or attending to an appointment, he added. --BERNAMA
