Trial Chinese exams for three Far East schools

KHABAROVSK, October 20. /TASS/. Trial state examinations in Chinese will be sat by 210 pupils at three Russian Far East schools this week, a local education official said on Tuesday. "The purpose of trials is to acquaint schoolchildren with examination papers and analyze their quality," Yekaterina Koshelnikova said. "The tests were developed in the federal centre and we should see if children understand them in practice." Exams will be held in Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur on October 21-23. "Results will be known after November 15. If the trials are successful, children will be able to select Chinese as an optional subject during the 2016 unified state examination," Koshelnikova said. The unified examination was introduced in Russia in 2001 as a series of tests every student must pass after graduation from school to enroll at a university or a professional college. Students can take exams in the Russian language, mathematics, foreign languages (English, German, French and Spanish), physics, chemistry, biology, geography, literature, history, and other subjects. Tests in Russian and mathematics are obligatory. Read more
