UN Rep For Humanitarian Affairs Calls On M'sia's DPM

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- United Nations' Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos Tuesday called on Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin at his office here. Muhyiddin, who is also chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, and Amos discussed, among others, humanitarian aid; handling of natural disasters; the issue of human trafficking and security. Amos' visit to Malaysia, at the invitation of the government, is to provide advisory service and share experiences in disaster management. National Security Council secretary Mohamed Tajudeen Abd Wahab and head of the World Humanitarian Summit secretariat, Dr Jemilah Mahmood, also attended the meeting. -- BERNAMA
