Victoria and Albert Museum director visits Azerbaijan Carpet Museum

Baku, April 10, AZERTAC Director of the world-known Victoria and Albert Museum in UK Martin Roth has visited Baku. As part of his visit, Roth met Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev. The director also visited Azerbaijan Carpet Museum. Martin Roth was told that in 2010, Azerbaijan's traditional art of carpet weaving was included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The carpet museum, where unique samples of applied arts are exhibited, has been located in different places throughout its history. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation and UNESCO provided assistance in the construction of the facility. There are carpets exhibited in the museum from 16th to 20th century. The director of the Victoria and Albert Museum Martin Roth signed the Museum’s Guest Book. Martin Roth was deeply impressed by the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum. The director of the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum Roya Tagiyeva handed over the keepsakes.
