Vietnam film festival to come to France in July

Hanoi, June 27 (VNA) - A Vietnam Film Festival will be held in the French coastal city of Saint Malo from July 1-6, as part of activities marking the Vietnam Year in France. The information was announced by Do Duy Anh, Deputy Director of the Cinema Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at a press conference held in Hanoi on June 25. The event’s organising board will introduce to the French public a selection of Vietnamese works of various types, from feature films to documentaries and cartoons. Besides, a series of films about Vietnam made by French and overseas Vietnamese directors in France will also be shown on the occasion, including Choi voi (Adrift), Dong Duong (Indochine) and Mui du du xanh (The Scent of Green Papaya), along with the two historical films of Song cung lich su (Living With History) and Dien Bien Phu. The festival aims to further enhance cooperation between Vietnam and France in the fields of film production and tourism as well as popularise the image of Vietnam’s culture and people to international friends. A range of exhibitions and symposiums will be held within the framework of the event.-VNA
