20th Kimilsungia Festival Opens

Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- The 20th Kimilsungia Festival opened here with due ceremony at the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition on Thursday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. The festival on the theme of "Kimilsungias in full bloom with yearning for our leader" brought together at least 80 units including the ministries, national institutions, armed forces organs and working people from all walks of life and school youth and children that displayed tens of thousands of potted Kimilsungias. Also displayed at the festival are immortal flowers cultivated by the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), overseas Koreans, foreign embassies and missions of international bodies here and friendship and solidarity organizations and individuals of different countries. Present at the opening ceremony were Pak Kwang Ho, vice-chairman of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Jon Kwang Ho, vice premier of the Cabinet, officials of the festival organizing committee and units that presented the flowers of the sun, service personnel, working people, delegations of overseas Koreans, overseas compatriots, staff members of the Indonesian embassy here, members of the societies for disseminating and supporting the immortal flowers and foreign guests. Kim Chang Do, chairman of the Korea Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee, in an opening address said that Kimilsungia exhibitions would be held in different parts of the country and various countries, along with the festival in Pyongyang, to be crowed with masses praising and yearning for the President. Bambang Hiendrasto, Indonesian ambassador to the DPRK, made a congratulatory speech. The participants went round the festival venue full of flowers of the sun after the ceremony. -0-
