4th day of 'OBOR Journalist Forum' focuses on Xiamen's tourism industry

TEHRAN, Jun. 24 (MNA) – The fourth day of One Belt and Road Journalists Forum 2018 was held in Beijing in Xiamen's Royal Victoria Hotel on Friday. Later on the same day the guests were offered a formal banquet by the Secretary General of Fujian Journalists Association Xiaowei Cai. In his formal address to the banquet, he extended greetings and warm welcome to the journalists, reporters, and officials attending the event and wished the guests from media relay a more objective and thorough report of Xiamen and China to the world with having a personal first-hand experience in Fujian Province during the visit. He then touched upon the six aspects of good fortune for the future of the province; (1) environment, (2) coastal location, (3) infrastructure, (4) culture, (5) connections with and supports from overseas Chinese nationals, and finally (6) comfortable and satisfying status of life for the local residents. He concluded wishing the event great success. The visit to Fujian is in a bid to contribute to the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road as the Chinese believe that the port was the starting point for the ancient maritime Silk Road and it now shoulders the responsibility of promoting South Fujian culture, and strengthening institutional and people-to-people connectivity. The local and national authorities are aiming to increase the popularity of Xiamen's tourism industry and attract more foreign visitors to Xiamen. By integrating various advantageous resources, Xiamen will gradually develop all-for-one tourism based on cultures in Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou. The 2018 edition of the Belt and Road Journalists Forum kicked off on Tuesday June 19 in Beijing and will come to an end on Tuesday June 26. Hosting more than 100 delegates from 52 countries and regions of the world, the second edition of event sees a triple extension from the first edition in 2017 where only 30 delegates attended the forum.
