5 candidates win Majlis seats in Tehran

TEHRAN, March 5 (MNA) – Five parliamentary candidates in Tehran succeeded to win parliamentary seats in the first round and 50 others will compete in a second round. In the second round 25 others will be elected. The metropolis of Tehran is represented by 30 lawmakers in the parliament. According to the law, each candidate must win a fourth of the votes in his or her constituency to be elected as lawmaker in the first round. Of the 2.205.152 votes cast in 3811 polling stations across Tehran, 1.999.474 were valid, election headquarters chief Solat Mortazavi announced on Sunday. The five candidates who won parliamentary seats in Tehran are: Gholam Ali Hadad Adel with 1.096,744 votes; Alireza Marandi with 92.617 votes; Seyyed Mohammad Hassan Aboutoradifard with 677.720 votes; Morteza Agha Tehrani with 676.142 votes; and Mas’oud Mirkazemi with 574.049 votes.
