5,000 people died in Syria

ANKARA (A.A) - December 15, 2011 - Turkish foreign minister said late on Wednesday that 5,000 people had died in Syria since March. Ahmet Davutoglu said that Turkey had agreed on a road map with Syria in which Syria pledged to hold parliamentary elections till the end of this year. "However, Syria did not abide by the road map, and despite all our efforts, 5,000 people died in this country since March," Davutoglu told lawmakers during the discussion of the new budget of his ministry. Davutoglu said Turkey was holding talks with all groups and nations in the Middle East and would continue to do so. Moreover, Davutoglu said Turkey would definitely not take the Greek Cypriot administration as an interlocutor if it undertook the rotating presidency of the European Union (EU) in case Cyprus issue was not solved till June. Davutoglu also said nobody could overshadow or harm Turkey's relations with Iran.
