7-Fold Rise In Number Of Libraries Across Iran In Post-Islamic Revolution Era

Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA – The number of libraries across Iran has increased seven folds since the 1979 Islamic Revolution compared to the figure in the pre-revolution era, said Director General of the Department of Public Libraries Hojjatoleslam Seyed Ali Hosseini, here on Sunday. Hosseini told a group of librarians that in the early years of the Islamic Revolution there were 400 libraries across the country but the number has risen to 2,800. He said International Standard Identifiers for Iranian Libraries (ISIL) has risen five folds in terms of book, infrastructure, chair and library. He added that on the 20-Year Vision Plan, Iran should take the first place in the Middle East, South East Asia and Central Asia./end
