Abdullah bin Zayed receives Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua

ABU DHABI, 31st March, 2015 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, today received the visiting Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Samuel Santos, and his accompanying delegation. Sheikh Abdullah wished that the visit would contribute towards enhancing relations between the two countries in all fields. During the meeting, the parties discussed the existing bilateral relations in the light of the development of joint cooperation in a number of fields, as well as ways to enhance them in the joint interest. The parties also exchanged views on the latest developments regionally and internationally as well as other issues of mutual concern. It is noteworthy that Sheikh Abdullah had paid a visit to Nicaragua in October 2009 and met with Daniel Ortega, President of Nicaragua. During the meeting, the two sides had reviewed ways to support joint cooperation between the two countries in all domains, a number of issues and the latest regional and international developments, as well as issues of mutual interest. On 4th September, 2014, the UAE and Nicaragua signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in the cultural, agricultural, livestock and fisheries fields in addition to preservation of environment. The two MoU were signed by Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, and Maria Rubiales de Chamorro, Permanent Representative of Nicaragua to the UN.
