Abe Calls for Mongolian President to Cooperate over N. Korea

Vladivostok, Russia,, Sept. 6 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe asked Mongolian President Khaltmaa Battulga on Wednesday to cooperate for the adoption of a U.N. Security Council resolution for fresh sanctions against North Korea. At their first meeting, held in the Russian Far East city of Vladivostok, Abe told Battulga that North Korea has posed the most serious threat ever, referring to the reclusive country's latest nuclear test on Sunday. There is a need to strengthen effective pressure on the nation, Abe stressed. In response, Battulga said he recognizes the importance of sanctions. The two leaders also underscored the significance of full implementation of existing Security Council resolutions against North Korea. Wednesday's meeting was also attended by former "yokozuna" grand sumo champion Asashoryu, whose real name is Dolgorsuren Dagvadorj. Battulga introduced him as a newly appointed special envoy to further develop cooperative relations between Mongolia and Japan. END
