Abe, Rutte Agree to Ensure Rule of Law

Tokyo, Nov. 10 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Dutch counterpart, Mark Rutte, agreed on Tuesday to ensure the rule of law on the high sea. Abe and Rutte, apparently referring to China's maritime assertiveness in the East China Sea and South China Sea, said freedom of the air and seas should be guaranteed. The two leaders also agreed that Japan and the European Union should conclude their talks on an economic partnership agreement at an early date. Speaking at a joint news conference with Rutte after their meeting, Abe said Japan aims to work with the Netherlands for global peace and prosperity. END
