Academician awarded MNT 100 million for discovering potential new cancer treatment means

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On November 24, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat and Minister of Education, Culture, Sciences and Sports J.Batsuuri handed to Academician D.Batsuren the Natural and Social Sciences Award for his thesis themed “Unique principle of Synthesis of Secondary Metabolites in Medicinal Herbs of Mongolia and a Potential New Agent for Curing Cancers”. He received MNT 100 million cash prize. The idea of D.Batsuren is being studied in more than 150 countries. D.Batsuren has been conducting researches and experiments for more than 40 years, during which he studied nearly 50 plant species, and identified and defined over 300 substances. He discovered 37 natural compounds, recovered 22 pure substances from haplophyllum and discovered 7 new substances. Prime Minister J.Erdenebat extended congratulations and expressed his hope the utilization of the new substances in cancer treatment would help save many lives and protect health of Mongolians.
