Advisor To S.Leader Acknowledges Performance Of Negotiating Team Led By FM

Tehran, Feb 5, IRNA – Advisor to Supreme Leader for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati on Tuesday acknowledged performance of the negotiating team led by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Geneva talks helped Iran vindicate its nuclear rights and proved its peaceful nature, he said. Speaking to reporters, he said that the Islamic Republic of Iran from the early stages has called the issue to be resolved through negotiations and believe that peaceful use of nuclear energy is the countryˈs legitimate right. Iran is a signatory state to Non-proliferation Treaty based on which the member states can make use of peaceful nuclear energy, Velayati said. He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is responsive to the questions to ensure Iranian commitment to NPT. IAEA inspectors are monitoring Iranˈs nuclear program 24 hours and have not issued any report about violation of NPT by Iran, he said. He said that the Geneva talks led to recognition of Iranian nuclear rights adding that in the comprehensive agreement the western governments will acknowledge Iranian nuclear program as civilian. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has the final say in all domestic and foreign issues and believes that Iran should not give up its nuclear rights in the face of the propaganda campaign, Velayati said./end
