Afghanistan Problem Has No Military Solution: Spokesman

Tehran, June 23, IRNA – Spokesman of Foreign Ministry Abbas Araqchi said Iran believes that crisis in Afghanistan has no military solution and the only good solution is dialogue. Reacting to the opening of Taliban Office in Doha, Qatar, Araqchi said,ˈ We are pleased that world community, although with delay, has admitted the inefficiency of military solution.ˈ According to Foreign Ministry Media Department, Araqchi said, ˈIran supports any dialogue between Afghan groups, in the framework of interests of people of Afghanistan, under the leadership of Afghan government and in accordance with rights of Afghan ethnic groups and Afghanistan Constitutional Laws; we believe that the nation of Afghanistan does not need foreign powers for national reconciliation talks.ˈ ˈWe also believe that imposed negotiations under the leadership of foreign powers and without considering Afghanistan national interests and the presence of representatives of Afghanistan will lead nowhere.ˈ ˈWe are against terrorism as well as against blind confrontation with terrorism which leads to killing of civilians especially women and children; we believe that the region has great capacity to help solve crisis in Afghanistan but this capacity, unfortunately, has not been used,ˈ said the spokesman./end
