Agreement on Iran’s nuclear program will pave way for conference on weapons of mass destruction-free zone - Lavrov

Reaching a final agreement on Iran’s nuclear program will pave the way for a conference on Weapons of Mass Destruction-Free Zone (WMDFZ) in the Middle East, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday. "Reaching agreement [on Iran’s nuclear program] will create more favorable grounds for finally organizing a conference on creating a weapons of mass destruction-free zone in the Middle East," Lavrov said. "This decision was made long ago, five year ago," the foreign minister noted. Iran is not the one to blame for delays in organizing the conference. "Our Western partners [are to blame for delays] as they for some reason couldn’t support the draft document which was perfectly acceptable for everyone else," he said. Read more
