Ahmadinejad’s Remarks Get Wide Coverage In Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 4, IRNA – All Pakistani major newspapers on Wednesday gave wide coverage to remarks of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that Iran will not back down on its peaceful nuclear program. Daily ‘Dawn’ reported that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that Iran will not back down on its nuclear programme despite western sanctions. ‘The News’ said Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a news conference in Tehran that “We are not (that kind of) people to retreat on the nuclear issue.” If somebody thinks they can pressure Iran, they are certainly wrong and they must correct their behaviour,” he said. ‘The Nation’ in its report said that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Ahmadinejad reaffirmed that he was “not very concerned” about persistent threats from Israel. “We have never been an aggressor. But we are very good defenders who have made all attackers regret their actions,” he said. “They are pressuring us and they are portraying us as the ones who are adventurous,” he said. “Iran will not back down on its nuclear program,” he further said. ‘Daily Times’ reported that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has told a press conference in Tehran that Iran won’t retreat on nuclear issue despite sanctions. ”If somebody thinks they can pressure Iran, they are certainly wrong and they must correct their behavior,” ‘Express Tribune’ quoted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying. ‘Pakistan Today’ reported that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that west is waging ‘economic war’ on Iran. Ahmadinejad said Iran has sufficient foreign currency reserves for the country’s needs, and that it was “a psychological war on the exchange market.” The daily ‘Business Recorder’ reported that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that Iran has coped with the western economic sanctions, and Iran's central bank has supplied enough hard currency to finance imports. Dunya TV channel said that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that, ‘We are not a people to retreat on the nuclear issue.’ The Urdu newspapers Nawa-i-waqt, Jang, Express and Jinnah, too, have reported the remarks of the Iranian President./end
