Ahmadinejad: Expanding Co-op Among Independent States Will Bolster World Peace

Accra, April 18, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Wednesday that expansion of cooperation among independent states will benefit world peace and security. President Ahmadinejad made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Ghanaian counterpart John Dramani Mahama and after signing several memoranda of understanding (MoU) by Iran and Ghana. Iran sees no limits on broadening cooperation with Ghana, said the president adding ˈWe are ready to transfer our experiences in various fields such as agriculture to Ghana.ˈ Ties between Iran and Ghana are very consolidated, he said. Iran and Ghana are now cooperating within international fora and are determined to expand cooperation to meet both sidesˈ interests, said President Ahmadinejad. Ghana as one of the founders of NAM is helping Iran revive the movement in line with the new world order, he said. The future is very promising for both nations, he said, adding that Iran and Ghana are to continue cooperation to this end. ˈWe are not at odds with the western states but they seek to trample upon our wealth through military aggression,ˈ he said. The Iranian government and people have never masterminded any plot against the US nor have they targeted any western states, he said. The Islamic Republic of Iran continues its drive for development despite mounting pressures being exerted by its enemies, he said. Since the western states imposed economic sanctions against Iran, the country has managed to acquired nuclear technology which is used in energy, agriculture, industry, health and treatment sectors, he said. Iran has made a scientific breakthrough in the field of aerospace by manufacturing and launching several satellites, he said. Iran enjoys high status in terms of production of science and is among top ten countries in the field of nano and biological technologies, he said. The per capital income of Iranians has increased to dlrs 3,000 and the gap between various social strata has been narrowed dramatically, he said. Cooperation of Iran with other nations will be to the benefit of the international community, said President Ahmadinejad. The Ghanaian nation decided to attain independence and no power in the world could prevent it, he said. The Ghanaian president, for his part, lauded the Iranian president and said Iran and Ghana try to promote relations in various fields, he said. The two countries have proven their solidarity withing international organizations and are determined to continue such cooperation with international institutions as well as NAM, said the Ghanaian president. He expressed the hope that the two countries would successfully continue cooperation in bolstering NAM. /end
