Al-Jaafari: Iraq Insists On Establishing Best Relations With Turkey

Baghdad, Iraq (NINA) - Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari stressed that Iraq is committed to establishing best relations with Turkey on the basis of good neighborliness and rejecting the presence of any forces on its territory that destabilize the security and stability of both countries and the region. Jaafari said during his meeting in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, according to a statement of his media office: "Iraq is still looking forward to the friendly countries stand by his side and to strengthen economic and investment cooperation, which has a significant impact in deepening relations and activating common interests." During the meeting, al-Jaafari expressed thanks and appreciation for Turkey's support for Iraq in providing humanitarian assistance and contributing actively in the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq. For his part, the Turkish Foreign Minister said during the meeting: "We seek to strengthen joint cooperation with Iraq, and the continuation of dialogues, for the benefit of the two countries, especially in the fight against terrorism." He added: "The security and stability of Iraq is important to us, and we participated in the Kuwait International Conference for the reconstruction of Iraq, and contributed by five billion dollars."
