Algeria Backs Iran's Right To N-energy: Algeria Parliament Speaker

Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA -- Speaker of the Peoples National Assembly of Algeria Mohamed al-Arab Weld Khalifa said on Sunday that his country supports Iranian right to develop nuclear technology. In a meeting with visiting head of Iranian Parliamentary Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, he said that scientific monopoly is a kind of injustice and violation of rights of other countries. The speaker said that Algeria backs Iranian right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. Borojerdi left Iran for Algeria on Saturday heading a parliamentary delegation. The two officials explored ways to further expand Tehran-Algiers relations in parliamentary, economic and political areas. Boroujerdi said that Iran and Algeria share close views over regional and international issues, urging economic activists from both countries to take measures to remove obstacles on the way of economic cooperation. He called for holding a meeting of Iran-Algeria Joint Economic Commission in the near future co-chaired by the Iranian first vice-president and Algerian prime minister. Meanwhile, Weld Khalifa described relations between Tehran and Algiers as deep-rooted, underlining both countries’ resolve to boost bilateral ties. Sobhaninia and Ashouri from the Presiding Board and Mansouri, a memer of Foreign Policy and National Security Commission of the Parliament are accompanying Boroujerdi to Algeria./end
