All Iranian Embassies Have Envoys : FM spokesman

Tehran, Aug 14, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman on Tuesday dismissed rumors that 50 of Iranian embassies are working without ambassadors, saying no Iranian embassy or consulate is presently without ambassador or consul general. He told his weekly press conference that the Iranian ambassadors and diplomats are appointed for a three-year term and the time of return of those whose mission has expired has been postponed until the new minister takes the helm of the Foreign ministry, so the new minister can reinstate some of them if he likes. On political unrest in Egypt, he expressed concern about the threat of occurrence of a civil war, saying conflicts in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon will only benefit the Zionist regime. He called on regional leaders, Egyptian leaders in particular, to remain vigilant, make overture to national dialogue and pay attention to advices of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in his sermon in Eid al-Fitr prayers. About President Rohanis proposed Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif, he said that Zarif is a well-Known figure at home and in the international arena and has high capability to protect national interests. He said that Zarif made intensive diplomatic initiatives in the aftermath of Iran accepted the UN-brokered ceasefire in 1988 as per the UN Resolution 598 to make arrangements for exchange of prisoners of war and clearing Iranian territory from dirty features of Iraqi occupation./end
