Allameh Tabataba’i-Corbin correspondences released in Italy

Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA - A session on the late Iranian thinker Allameh Tabataba’i was held in Rome, Italy and widely attended by scholars, thinkers, journalists and enthusiasts of Islamic philosophy. The meeting was held on Tuesday on the occasion of the publication of an Italian translation of the book titled ‘The Dialogues and Correspondences Between Professor Henry Corbin and Allameh Tabataba’i’. The book was translated by Iran’s cultural office in Italy. Speaking at the meeting, the Italian publisher of the book said, “Publication of this book in Italy is an honor for the publication industry since it helps me present Shia school of thought to more people all over the world.” He urged the people not to let the mass media sway their thought and seek the truth themselves. “At the beginning, when I converted to Islam, I could find answers to many of my religious questions by reading the book. In this book, Tabataba’i not only answers Corbin’s questions, but he also helps readers learn about deep Shia concepts.” Addressing the same session, Qorban-Ali Pour-Marjan, the Iranian cultural attaché in Italy, said Islam, supported by the Holy Qur’an, is replete with revelatory teachings pertaining to different fields and subjects. In its journey through history, Islam has been transformed from one generation to another by protecting human beings from deviations, he noted. The correspondences between Allameh Tabataba’i and the famous French orientalist Corbin is one of the best examples of cultural dialogue in which Allameh made clarifications and expositions about Shia faith in response to the questions posed by Corbin. Allameh Mohammad Hossein Tabataba’i was one of the most prominent thinkers of philosophy and contemporary Shia Islam. He was a prolific writer and an inspiring teacher to his students who devoted much of his life to Islamic studies. He is famous for ‘Tafsir al-Mizan’, the Qur’anic exegesis./end
