Amano Diminishing IAEA’s Credibility : Indian Scholar

New Delhi, Nov 10, IRNA – While rejecting the latest fabricated report against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program by Yukiya Amano, an Indian scholar Thursday said: “Amano is diminishing IAEA’s credibility. In an exclusive interview with IRNA Professor Basir Ahmed Khan, former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in New Delhi said: “IAEA is an independent body and its activities should be neutral. But the chief, Amano by presenting the anti-Iran report, under the influence of US and its allies, has diminished its credibility”. He noted that Iran is the lone country who has allowed maximum number of inspections into its nuclear plants to prove its good will to the nuclear watchdog. No evidences were found that the country was engaged in developing nuclear weapons, he said, adding, US and its allies having hostility towards Iran, are preventing the IAEA from practicing neutrality. “Iran is committed to its international obligation and being signatory to NPT is developing nuclear technology only for the peaceful purposes,” said Basir. Despite the fact that Iran is keen to have nuclear capability for peaceful means, anti-Iran lobby is accusing and politicizing the issue, the Indian scholar said, adding, at this juncture, it is the duty of world body to avoid partiality. Basir Ahmed, former Head of the Department of Islamic Studies at Jamia Hamdard University, while urging the peace loving countries to reject Amano’s fabricated and hallow claims, asked Iran not to compromise its legitimate rights in pursuing its nuclear program./end
